PEOPLE IN PLACE

People in Place is an ongoing portrait project made in Seattle’s neighborhoods and public spaces. I photograph strangers I’m drawn to, sometimes because of the way they carry themselves, a gesture, an expression, or something less easily defined.

Before making a portrait, I introduce myself, ask permission, and spend a little time in conversation. That exchange is central to the work. The photographs are not candid observations but brief collaborations, shaped by curiosity and trust.

The portraits are about the people who give a city its character, and the small encounters that can make strangers feel, for a moment, a little less like strangers.
